Abby Cooper is reluctantly sent to Los Angelos to help out the FBI. She is sent to not only assist in a high profile case but to teach the agents intuition. She knows she will have to put up with a lot of snide remarks, glares and skepticism but what she did not expect to come up against was herself. Luckily against the director's orders her best friend and his wife, Candice decides to tag along.

Although she has passed all the tests set before her and befriend's one of the agents, Kelsey Hart the next case is what breaks her. Partnered with to non-believer's she is set with the task of assisting in solving a series of bank robberies but when her talents seem to fail her in the field she is set packing. This will not stop Abby and Candice from starting their own investigation. Abby believes that this string of robberies is linked to a local business man which is linked to future murders.

While they follow countless leads that seemingly lead nowhere and back to this one man with nothing to support it, it will end up being a joint effort between themselves and the FBI that has dismissed them to bring all to justice.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this latest stage in Abby's life. She is a great character and I love her stubbornness and independence. Along with her is her equally energetic and strong-minded friend, Candice. They really make a great team. In this book not only did Abby have to come up against the usual skeptics but she has to face her own personality flaws but how she views herself as others views her it was a great insight into her. I look forward to the next book.

Best Friends, Business owners, A Book themed cafe called Read Èm and Eat in a picturesque beach town in Florida. Best friends, Sassy Cabot and Bridgy Mayfield are. my most favourite aspect of Read to Death besides the mystery was the book clubs that are held there and their literary themes tables and treats prepared by chef Miguel, the one book club you would find me in would be The Potluck Book Club but I digress.

Read to death happens to revolve around their Cool Read/Warm Climate Book Club and their trip to the Edison and Ford Winter Estates, a historical and educational trip after they each read The Florida Life of Thomas Edison. I loved getting to know each of the book club ladies on the bus ride and Margo who is from Windsor, Ontario the city I happen live in was a treat to read and a great surprise.  I felt like I was right along for the ride with them.

Once back at Read Èm and Eat Bridgy finds their bus driver and known troublemaker, Oscar Frieland dead with scissors protruding from his neck and once Bridgy is found as a person of interest to the local police, their mom's who are also sisters decide to pay a visit but with the sisters   life- long grudge, their visit may not be all that enjoyable for Sassy and Bridgy. When one of the Cool Reads/Warm Climate Book club members goes missing and also someone who could possibly have the key that unlocks who the murderer is Sassy starts snooping around to find clues that lead to the killer.

A perfect mystery for your summer reading list. These feisty gals, Bridgy and Sassy are Best Friends's Forever who find the crime then solve it. This close knit bunch of family and friends is what makes Read to Death a sure fire winner. I love the kind of mysteries that play over and over in my mind when i'm reading and long after the story is finished and this one sure has If you love books, food and mystery your in for a bumpy ride.Author Terri Farley Moran penned a fast pased new favorite for me in the series I can't wait to read and review the next book in this series.

Annie Carson knows her way around the farm, her horse rescue duties, her horses and the rest of her furry family. She has found her niche in life and is more than content with it. When a late night horse rescue turns her world into a homicide investigation she can't help herself but get involved. Annie suddenly finds herself in between the main suspect and her long time friend, the sheriff.

She can't believe the evidence that is stacking up against the main suspect and is constantly being warned off him.

Everyone believes he did it, even when he goes missing Annie keeps up her pursuit for the truth, what she believes to be the truth. As she starts picking through the pieces of the deceased's life she is led through a trail of bread crumbs that only leads to more questions than answers. Amidst these tiny revelations she must try to keep her friendship with her long time friend and deal with her half sister that has decided to take up residence.

With all that is going on in Annie's life, professionally and personally she will run herself bone tired before the killer is brought to light. It is a bittersweet ending, truth prevailed but at a cost. I was excited to read this story because I love horses and it sounded interesting. It didn't disappoint, it also gives (at least me being from a city) a lot of education on horses. It was a great story line and was fast paced, which is what I like. I don't like to be dragged down with a lot of drama.

The characters are very real and likable. Annie is a strong-minded independent women, love that Lavender the free spirit, Dan the voice of reason and Jaun, he didn't have the biggest role in the story but he came through in the end. Looking forward to the next book.

Lena London has finally landed her dream job working as an assistant to the great novelist Camilla Graham. Lena a writer starting out herself can't believe her luck to be working with her favorite author as well as moving closer to her best friend, Allison. Once she arrives in Blue Lake, Indiana she falls in love with the charming town and her employer's house on the bluff.

While Lena is becoming acquainted with her new environment she stumbles upon a man lying face down in the sand and thus starts the beginning of a real-life mystery for her. Trying to keep the balance between her work and the murder in this small town, Lena finds herself being torn and distracted by the real life events that surround her. She has also befriended the local outcast and has been warned to stay away from him but she is compelled to stay by his side.

Amongst her professional needs and her curiosities for the murder cases she will also find herself on the minds of two men. In the end Lena's heart will lead her beyond the last page. I found the story very enjoyable. It was a drama driven story for me, lots of insights from the main character. I liked how it was centered on Lena but it was as if there was more then one story, more then one angle.

As for Lena she is a good female lead, independent and a bit abrupt. Not totally afraid of going after the truth. The characters are what made the story, how they intertwined with each other and moved it forward. Looking forward to the second in the series.

Book Review/Giveaway: Toasting Up Trouble By Linda Wiken

Format: kindle e-book

I was really excited to read this first in a series when I read it was a Dinner Club mystery. I am a big fan of dinner clubs and with food and a mystery included, it was sure bet I would love it and I did,
Cookbook lover, J.J. Tanner and her friend, Skye Drake are event planners at Skye's new company "Make it Happen".  J.J. is gearing up for an Italian themed princess party for a twenty-one-year-old girl, Angelica.

All the while J.J. is thrilled over her latest cookbook find that she will share with her group of friends also known as the "Culinary Capers" Dinner Club. J.J. is to prepare the main dish and her friends also pick dishes to serve from the book and then they eat their delicious meals together. What a great concept that I just loved.

After the Italian Princess Party J.J. planned J.J. has an argument with Chef Marcotti who J.J. hired to cater the party over a dish that was to be left out of the affair because of budget restrictions and soon after Chef Marcotti was found stabbed to death at the Portovino estate.

All eyes fall on J.J as the prime suspect but soon more start to emerge as the truth about the chef starts to come out that he was a womanizer, his various affairs and questionable business dealings and stolen recipes and another chef that has a past with Chef Marcotti whom J.J. finds help for her recipe for the Culinary Capers. J.J can't help but want to clear hers and her new chef mentor's name with J.J now being in danger after nearly being run down by a care and she will stop at nothing to find the killer before both their gooses are cooked.

J.J. Tanner is my favorite new culinary amature sleuth. I found her very relatable and our shared love for cookbooks, she renewed that love for me. A hint of what I think will be a romance with a certain P.I. kept the pages flowing and the friendships with the Culinary Capers who were fun characters and kept it exciting to read. Anticipating the next book in Dinner Club Mysteries.
