Maura Donavan has spent the past seven months learning her way around the small village of Leap and learning how to run the pub she enherited from distant relative, Old Mick and the customs of living in such a small Community in Ireland. She believes she can make a life and a go of it in this small community something she was not used to living in Boston.

Nevertheless when a dairy farmer goes missing while on a walk with his young son, Maura will find herself wondering if she really knows anything about the community she has been learning about for the past seven months. Soon she will find herself in the middle of some risky business. While John Tully, the dairy farmer that is missing, a another man washes up on the shores of Ireland. Speculation if the bodies are linked start to form all kinds of theories amongst Maura and her small band of friends. With the help of some unlikely strangers Maura launches a plan that may land everyone on the wrong side of the law. Or worse....

All the while Maura is still trying to find her place between Sean and Mick, how to heat her cottage correctly, helping out a friend in need, learning who to trust beyond her staff of Mick, Jimmy and Rose. She will also find her way into caring as much for someone she never met then she ever has before. But will it all work out in the end and with everyone safe and sound, no one quite knows.

The story is packed with a lot of drama and although I usually find drama slow this drama keeps you reading, the author did a great job with streaming the balance between the mystery and the everyday what. It certainly shows even though there is a tragedy life goes on and no matter what you need to find a balance. As for the characters, she has written Maura so well. I feel like I know her and have empathy for her past and present situation. Loved the return of Mick and Old Billy. I would love to see a story centered around Old Billy's past.

Looking forward to the next one....... FTC Disclosure Thank you to the publisher and/or author for providing us with a copy of this book for review. This did not influence our thoughts in any way. All the opinions of the book and review are honest and our own.

  6. Thanks so much for having me here today! Interesting idea about adding Old Billy's story. I always think of him as something like Yoda, holding court in his seat by the fire, watching, listening, and dispensing wisdom.
