The assistant to the wedding planner, Julianna is  found floating dead in the pool. The police think it's accidental but Zoe has other ideas. Meanwhile Zoe is about to pull her hair out with her soon to be mother-in-law and her only escape seems to be her best friend Ellie's boathouse, where Ellie tries to reassure Zoe that everything will be okay and at the same time having struggles of her own.

Zoe soon has the clues to point to that it was indeed murder and with the amount of people that are staying in the house it could be anyone of them and Zoe along with the police talk to everyone of them to try to reveal a killer in her midst. But looks can be deceiving and things are not always as they seem as Zoe soon finds out and escape from the killers clutches is the first order of business before Zoe finds herself in hot water.

My favorite of the Zoe Donovan Mysteries I have read so far. A must for any fan of  wedding themed cozy mysteries like myself.   Edge of your seat thrills. Kathi's writing is like a breath of fresh air and before you know it your finished reading. Action packed and full of suspense and with a unexpected turn of events when the killer is revealed. Not knowing or not suspecting who a killer is is so refreshing to me and the the element of surprise had me loving this book even more. Spend the day reading Matrimony Meltdown and you won't be disappointed.

Step into Ella Mae LeFaye's world and your stepping into something magical. She is the proprietor of The Charmed Pie Shoppe. What is so magical about Ella Mae's world, you ask? She has these magical powers that let her bake her feelings into her pies therefore anyone that eats them will be captured with the pies emotional powers. She is the leader of this magical land in Havenwood where she and her family are from and all over the world.

With the murder of a friend of a friend named Mrs. Mercer and a looming powerful and life threatening storm in Scotland. More suspicions arise when the eye of the storm is in the shape of a four leaf clover the same shape as a burn on Ella Mae. Ella Mae and a new friend, the son of Joyce Mercer rush to save her aunts barn from fire and possibly her aunts life. Not far from her mind is Hugh Dylan, the love of her life who went off to find himself and his hidden powers.

Ella Mae must put her feelings for Hugh  on the back burner to try to figure out how to find a murderer an save her family and her people for for what it seems is certain destruction.

"What kind of enchantment did you add to this divine dish?"-Aunt Verena

Ella Mae's powers are certainly enchanting. If only all of us could bake our feelings into a pie or any other food we loved and freeze it would be something truly magical. That's one of the things I love about Ella Mae, that and her love for food, HGTV and The Food Network. Her aunt's powers of making sculptures of animals to help owners with their grief and her love story is tear worthy.

In all honesty, I don't usually like to read books that contain magic or fantasy I have a hard time understanding these magical and fantasy worlds because I like to stick to a more realistic mystery but I do have to say that Ella Mae is the one character that changed that for me. Passionate and heartfelt amateur sleuth with a touch of romance. A magical and mystical mystery that will have non believers believing and wanting to step into a fantasy world of magical powers and the best of all there's baking, a pie shoppe and best of all there's delicious pie.

All eyes look upon Rose as a suspect when Zunia is found dead along side Rose's beloved teapot. But Rose being a elderly woman in her 80's couldn't possibly had the power and strength to kill Zunia and no one that knows her could possibly believe she would killer her. Zunia has secret affairs of her own and the suspects start piling up when Rose's Granddaughter, Sophie heads in to help her Grandmother and find Zunia's killer.

This second book in the Teapot Collectors Mysteries is brewed to perfection and steeped with enchanting characters and is a delicious mystery. Rose venturing out of her Victorian Tea House was  refreshing, interesting change. I always had a cup of tea beside me while reading, being the tea lover that I am I just could not resist having it there while reading. I felt Sophie's love for her grandmother and imagined I would be that way with mine if I hadn't lost her when I was young, it was a very compelling aspect of the story for me and will keep me reading this series  and always the TEA !!!

Ellie Rush is a young bicycle cop in Central Los Angeles, paying her dues to become a detective. She lives a quiet life surrounded by her closest four friends that she went to college with and lives in a small house with her dog Shippo.

While patrolling with her partner near a concert hall she comes into an accident involving a gardner, a gifted Cellist and his father. An thus starts an interesting investigation about an attempted theft that may not have been an attempted theft. In the midst of the investigation Ellie's stolen car shows up with an unexpected visitor who is trying to get her attention on another ongoing investigation in the greater Los Angeles area, a serial bank robber.

While trying to follow two investigations and keep her family together, Ellie will need to push forward on all fronts. But once the death of the gardner is announced Ellie's life seems to be turned upside down and pulled in all sort of directions professionally and personally.

I found the story full of drama (in a good way) and multi-layered, her family issues, her work issues, her lack there of love life. It was a good story of a young woman trying to fin her way in life and in a still male dominated workplace.

Book Review/Giveaway: Chef Maurice and A Spot of Truffle by J.A. Lang

Author: J.A Lang
Series: Book 1 Chef Maurice Culinary Mysteries
Publisher: Purple Panda Press
Format: ebook

I had great fun reading the first book of this series. Chef Maurice had me in stitches and trying to pronounce his French as I read because he is a French chef living in the Cotswolds in England.

Ollie Meadows is Chef Maurice's mushroom supplier for his restaurant, Le Cochon Rouge. Ollie is quite the shady character and it seems that he is involved in some low down and dirty schemes as of late. Intruders are in invading Ollie's residence more than once and a certain chef of a certain kind of truffle, I might add.

Where could have Ollie have gotten these expensive truffles you ask not possibly in England so Chef heads to the pet shelter to buy himself a "truffle hunting micro pig"named, Hamilton along with his friend and food Critic for the newspaper, Arthur. They then venture into the woods to start to try to track down these so called truffles and maybe try to find forager, Ollie.

To Chef Maurice and Arthur's surprise they find Ollie shot in the chest dead in the river. A killer is out there and Chef Maurice is on a culinary quest to find this person and could there be a possible connection between these truffles and Ollie's killer?

The suspects start adding up and Chef Maurice will not quit his search. His pig, Hamilton has son been "pignapped" and Chef Maurice will stop at nothing to get his beloved Hamilton back and find a murderer post haste.

I love British Humor and author J.A Lang writes it brilliantly with Chef Maurice, his friend author and his fun loving pig Hamilton. It is written seamlessly and very humorous, with a dash of murder and abundance of food and a mystery filled with wit. There's also more to Hamilton than meets the eye as I soon found out after reading this book that will have you amused. I can't wait to read and review the next in this series, Chef Maurice and the Wrath of Grapes.

With the fear of a murderer among them. Clyde and her family have so called physic abilities but after down playing it for so long could Clyde use her abilities to find things help her solve a murder?
Clarissa was not well liked and every one had a reason to want her dead. Clyde and Mac weave through the suspects one by one to try to catch a killer hook, line and sinker.

This book had the makings of a traditional mystery but it also had the very best features that define a "Cozy Mystery" including the setting, plot, theme and the characters. Grabs your attention and won't let go even long after your finished reading. Clyde and Mac and their families were very likable and lovable especially Clyde's Aunt Vi who seemed a little annoying at first but I grew to love. When you think about the characters and want to know what happens next is the sure sign of a great mystery. I will be sure to go back to read the first two books in this series and I also can't wait to see what happens with Clyde, Mac and their families in the next Family Fortune Mystery.
