It always seems that Cait always finds herself in these situations where she finds a dead body and this time there's is no exception. Cait and her friend Cody, whom also shares a romantic past with Cait are on the case of a mysterious murder that occured twenty six years ago. Cody just purchased the town newspaper, Madrona Island News from the current owner, Orson. While in the newspaper office Cody came  across the unpublished article and wonders why it was never published and soon along with Cait starts to investigate and all the pieces start falling together.

Cody wants to find out why this article was never published and decides to ask Orson about it so he calls him and Orson's son tells him that is already on his way to the Island. Cody then wonders why but it will all soon start to unravel.

While riding her bike on the bike trail along the beach, Cait comes across a body buried in the sand that is not moving she then calls the police to report it. Cait finds it so hard to believe that there could be yet another murder after the two previous ones on her beloved Island home.

They were all surprised to find that it was the previous owner of the news paper, Madrona Island News, Orson. But was he really murdered or was it just a terrible accident? and Cait is wondering if the reason why he is dead is because of Cait and Cody investigating the unpublished Orson wrote so many years ago. It is discovered that Orson was in fact murdered now Cait and Cody want to find the truth about this article and it's story and why Orson was murdered and what his connection could possibly.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention a cute, adorable kitten named Emily that shows up at Cait's door. Cait once again wonders if she is here to help her solve the mystery of the article and Orson's murder, Emily's hidden clues could unlock the mystery and solve the murder if only Cait will connect the dots.

A Brilliantly written cozy mystery with charming characters with a homey setting on Madrona Island it really makes you want to be there. A favorite for me is Cait's aunt Maggie's cat Sanctuary where she takes in abandoned and helps solve the over population of feral cats on the island by providing them good homes and hope that her character is brought more to the forefront and developed in future books considering her past and what she has been through. Kathi Daley never fails with the telling of this tail and of the mystery and murder solving adventures of Cait and her friends and residents of Madrona Island. Looking forward to reading and reviewing the next in this series.

Scarlett Parker's life is in turmoil so she decides to escape to Notting Hill in England to a millinary shop, Mim's Whims named for her grandmother, that has since passed away that she shares ownership with her cousin, Vivian. Scarlett is welcomed to the shop and to England surprisingly not by Viv but by Viv's business manager, Harrison (aka Harry) Wentworth.

Viv seems to have vanished it seems out of thin air and no one else seems to be as concerned about it as Scarlett, with everyone saying this is typical behavior of Viv. Scarlett is then left to handle the shop and await Viv's return....if she ever returns that is.

She is bewildered as she is left to run the shop but she has the helping hand of a apprentice, Fee. Lady Ellis then ventures into Mim's Whim's to pick up a hat that Viv has made for her and Scarlet has a hard time finding it and then gives her what she thinks may be the right match so to make up for it she offers Lady Ellis a photo shoot to have her picture taken with the hat for the Mim's Whims Website.

Scarlet befriends Nick and Andre, a couple and Andre happens to be a photographer, she asks him to photograph Lady Ellis and he agrees. Together the go to the Lady's manor to photograph her when Scarlet find her stabbed to death only wearing the hat that Scarlett sold her that fateful day.

Suspicions of Viv start to surface because of Lord Ellis's passionate love for Viv that has lasted for years. Scarlet steps up to protect her missing cousin claiming there's no possible way she could have been involved, the shop is ransacked and an assailant attempting to suffocate Scarlet. Scarlet then with Harrison and her new friends Andre and Nick's help need to find a killer before Scarlet is next and the tea and crumpets go cold.

This was my first time listening and completing an audio book. The narrator's attempts at the British accents left me feeling truly entertained . Rich with romantic tension. I knew I wanted to start reading this series when I discovered it was set in England. The author, Jenn's McKinlay's  words transported me there as I am a fan of England but I have never been there. I am also a fan of her other series and I knew this series would be great too. Scarlet is a likely heroine, very spunky and there were true heartfelt moments for Scarlet that I felt were heart warming. I drank tea most of the time while listening immersing myself in this first in a what is sure to be a ace of a series.

I love reading this series, it's one of my favorites because of Minnie Hamilton, librarian  and  the libraries bookbmobile and her lovable and protective and sometimes mischievous cat, Eddie. Minnie is frantically searching for volunteers to join her on her bookmobile deliveries. She is so worried about losing the bookmobile because of limited funding. Minnie is determined to keep the bookmobile on the road for her patrons that are home bound and unable to make it to the library and elementary schools.

Many have volunteered with Minnie on the bookmobile route but when  one named Denise who is also a member of "The Friends of The Library" is unable to make the trip she volunteers her husband, Roger to go along with Minnie on the fateful voyage but Minnie and Roger being unaware that  it will be Roger's last ride when when they make a rest stop and he is found by Minnie dead. There are many hunters out and about and it is determined that Denise's husband  was  mistakenly  killed by one of them.

After some discovery by the police and some interesting leads it is discovered that Roger's death was not an accident and it was in fact murder and Roger was not the intended target. With Minnie's boss, Stephen breathing down her neck about the future of the book mobile Minnie has to hurry to find who would want to murder Roger and find this killer before they find the intended target and they end that person's life  and  the bookmobile comes to an end.

Minnie and her bookmobile cat, Eddie make this series come alive with her love of reading, books and her beloved bookmobile. She is everything that a ameteur sleuth entails, determined, fiesty, and driven to keep the bookmobile at all costs and find a murderer. The connection between them is fun loving and heart warming. A real pleasure for this book and cat lover to have read and if you love books and cats this series is perfect for you and especially this book, It really makes you wonder what antics Minnie and Eddie and the bookmobile will get into next and we will discover that in Pouncing on Murder the next in the series.'

I never expected when I opened Assault and Pepper and started reading that I would develop a deep love and affection for these characters but that is exactly what happened.

There's Pepper she runs Seattle's Spice Shop. You can taste the scrumptious and warming tea as the author beautiflly describes the different taste sensations and spices they each contain.

The Market that houses The Seattle Spice shop is always hustling and bustling and it is not uncommon for panhandlers. One such panhandler named "Doc" happens to die right at the front door of the Spice Shop.

The next character that tugged on my heart strings was, Pepper's employee, Tory. It seems that the panhandler "Doc" and her have a connection that runs long and deep and she soon becomes a suspect in his death but to Peppers shock and horror he died by poisoning because Doc was clutching a cup of tea from The Spice Shop with their logo on it.

Pepper does not want to see anything happen to Tory and has trouble believing that Tory murdered him so she tries to discover who could have possibly had a motive to want him dead but sniffing him out as not as easy as the savory aromas of her spices.

Some spice, a dash of pepper and a sprig of thyme that it took the read the first book in this Spice Shop series was certainly filled with gusto. This book definitely brought variety and spice to my life as it will yours.

I just couldn't resist picking up this book. Judging by the catchy title, Dying for A Cupcake was just what this cupcake murder mystery lover wanted to read. Kizzy Cutler is a "cupcake queen" a celebrity gourmet cupcake queen, she has after many years of being away from her hometown of Shadow Bend, Missouri. She is back for a cupcake competition to kick off her latest line of cupakes and is welcomed back to town with open arms and many sweet tooths.

Just when things are going well for the "Cupcake Queen" her assistant, Fallon is discovered murdered under mysterious circumstances. The self assured cupcake queen pushes on, undeterred by Fallon's murder. Soon it is clear as day that Kizzy is this killers true target.

Dev is the proprietor of Deveraux's Dime store and agrees to have some of the what the business owners and friends of Deb's dub "The Cupcake Weekend" events there. After a near hit and run  and then a attempt on Kizzy's life and arson at Dev's Dime Store, it seems that someone has it in for "The Cupcake Queen". Dev then decides to try to help the police along in finding someone who has already murdered. Then suspects start to surface and as Dev checks them all out she quickly discovers someone who felt it was their duty to kill Kizzy and even the score.

This was the first book I read in this series and I know I chose the best one. This a winner for cupcake lovers. Dev is a character that felt like a little reflection of me. Even by the picture on the cover I thought somewhat looked like me. With her complicated love life, a little romance and sometimes indecisiveness about men. Very engaging and top notch fast paced writing. I could easily picture myself in this small town as I was reading. I was so eager to find out who the cupcake culprit was and had a inkling of sympathy  for the killer as the person was revealed.
