Angie soon discovers nothing in her little hometown is the same including her grandmother with her running her Mainely Needlepoint business where she and a few friends make needlepoint pieces. Angie struggles to fit in to her hometown again if she ever did in the first place. At the same time Angie's gram has issues with a named Jacques Lattimore. After scamming Mainely Needlepoint out of a substantial amount of money after he took over business operations Gram asks Angie to try to find Lattimore to try to get their money back.
Angie finds Lattimore and brings him back to Maine, while meeting with Gram and the rest of the Mainely Needlepointers after Lattimore gives them part of the money he owed he suddenly falls ill and dies in Grams bathroom. When the police reveal to Angie and Gram that it was in fact murder, Angie takes it upon herself to try to find the reason he died and the person who did it along with her mother's murderer after nineteen years.
A tender, heartwarming mystery. You can help but feel for Angie and her sorrows of her past. I found myself rooting for Angie to find her mother's and Lattimore's killer to bring her some closure. I felt Angie's pain through the author Lea Wait's words. Powerful, unforgettable Characters. Angie and her Gram are the picture of survival through ther break and betrayal. This book left me soul searching about how short life is and how much I treasure my mother. You don't have to be a fan of needlepoint to enjoy this character driven story but I did enjoy learning more about needlepoint and Gram's business. I can't wait to see what's in store for Angie and Gram in THREAD OF EVIDENCE, the next in the series.
