She is a publicist for the authors that will be taking part in the book fair, Caroline Cummings, A.J. Pruitt, Margaret Farrow and Gigi Briggs.

Ashley is found dead and stashed in a coffin outside the local funeral home, when all eyes turn to Lizzie as the prime suspect because of a fiery conversation they had at the book fair and with Lizzie's cell phone found at the scene of the crime, Lizzie  can't help but wonder how her cell phone got there and who could possibly try to frame her for a murder she didn't commit. The Members of the Ashton Corners Mystery Readers and Cheese Straws society then band together to try to save Lizzie before the book gets thrown at her.

This is another first book in this series I have read and I have to say it has become a favorite and now I want to go back and read this series from the beginning, Book Fair and Foul has  book lovers with Southern Charm. A great cozy for fans of books about books. A favorite for me is the mystery book quotes at the beginning of each chapter and the book name dropping within the book. A Cozy mystery series about cozy mysteries will keep me coming back for more. A must read for any cozy mystery fans. I can't wait to read and review the next in this series.

Las Vegas is the mecca for anything weird and wacky and when Maxie Pierce and the Chili Showdown ride into town things get weirder and wackier. There is of coarse a chili contest for the hottest chili, Devil's Breath with the judges being preformer's in the casino where the contest is taking place. Maxie is all about everything chili with running her missing father, Jack's Texas Jack Pierce's Hot-Cha Chili Seasoning Palace and organizing the contest.

When lowbrow comedian, Dickie Dunkin dies while tasting a contestant's Devil's Breath chili during the contest, the heat is on for Maxie to track down a killer with worry over her missing father, a annoying half sister and a smokin hot, head of security, Nick she has alot to deal with. Maxie not only has to pick out chili's and spices for the customers she needs to pick out a killer before someone else gets burned.

Maxie is a chili chick with a attitude, a woman sleuth with a lot to prove. She's sassy and in your face. She is what I loved about Death By Devil's Breath. Great writing that kept me hooked into the story into the late hours of the night. I could relate  too Maxie in the sense that she tries to hide her feelings well but will soon discover she does have a heart that she hates to admit she has. I love a cozy mystery even more when I could relate to a character and love the writing, like I did reading Death by Devil's Breath.  I can't wait to read and review the next in this series. Now I'm craving chili.

Every character in this debut cozy mystery are so quirky and charming well except maybe the killer but that's another tale for another day. Read 'Em and Eat is a quaint little bookstore/cafe run by Florida's own, Sassy Cabot and Bridget Mayfield. The bookstore being a dream of Sassy's and and the cafe being a dream of Bridget's. The book meetings are in full swing at Read 'Em and Eat and many Florida's resident book lovers attend. Delia Baton is a regular of the meetings along with her best friend Augusta Maddox but Delia is a shy somewhat recluse.

To the shock of all at Read 'Em and Eat including Sassy and Bridget they find out that Delia was murdered. Sassy and Bridget rally to comfort her best friend Augusta in her time of grief. Augusta wants to know who  murdered her best friend and asks Sassy to help her and Sassy gladly accepts but realizing she needs to protect everyone she loves before it's too late.

I was so in love with the bookstore/cafe Read 'Em and Eat. Fighting for and protecting a friend had me hooked from the start. A touch of a long lost romance too a only true romantic could love. Books and food are always make the best cozies in my book and in this book it makes it even better but murder is never far behind, and Well Read, Then Dead kept me reading. It had everything you could want in a cozy even a lovable cat and what cat and animal lover would not love that? Not me that's for sure. I can't wait to read and review the next in the series.

Book Review: The Big Tiny : A Build it myself Memoir by: Dee Williams

Title: The Big Tiny: A Built It Myself Memoir
 Author: Dee Williams
 Publisher: Blue Rider Press
 Format: Hard cover
 Source: Library
 Genre: Non Fiction
 Reviewed by: Marlene

Dee Williams invites you into her own personal story of being diagnosed with a heart condition to living in a tiny house of 84 square feet. A tiny house on wheels with limited electricity and no running water. It may sound small and simple but through reading this she makes it sound big. The journey she takes you on is uplifting, humble and adventorous ride in which she battles her health, her own stubborness and building her own home.

Ms. Williams also explores the meaning of home, work life balance and togetherness. I personally picked up this book because I was curious about tiny homes being built on trailers. Something I saw on youtube. I'll tell you they are no ordinary RVs. I didn't realize how heartfelt and touching it was going to be and the similarities I found between myself and the author. I have also read other books by Tammy Strobel and Gregory Johnson. They also live in small homes and believe their lives have improved and they have become happier.

These tiny houses have become a movement around the USA (Haven't found much regarding it in Canada) but it certainly peeked my interest of what I feel is home, how much stuff and space I need. I recently moved into a 645 square foot one bedroom one bath with a large storage room because I felt one person needed it. I am now finding I don't use half of this space at all. It is empty or closets crammed with junk (which I am purging slowly).

In part of the book she mentions the many types of places she has lived. I can relate to that I have moved a around quite a bit and not found my place. Now not saying I could live in 84 square feet ( Probably) but I am still spoiled I don't think I couldn't live with out running water. I just personally believe getting back to a simpler time and togetherness would help this planet tremendously. Maybe not worrying so much about buying, bigger is better and social networks would be a good first step.

Guest Cozy Mystery Author Post: Terri Farley Moran

How I got From Here to There

Hi All, my name is Terrie Farley Moran and I am the author of Well Read, Then Dead, the first book in the Read Em and Eat mystery series. I am delighted to visit A Cozy Girl Reads today because—I am a cozy girl like our good friend Tina and, dare I say, like you. I may have, on occasion, read my share of thrillers, romantic suspense, historicals, etc. but I am happiest with a heartfelt cozy mystery and a glass of sweet tea.
There is much to be said for enjoying a book that doesn’t drown the reader in blood or violence or bad language or gratuitous sex and yet has an entertaining cast of characters, a remarkable setting and a mystery that must be solved. And that describes cozy mysteries to a tea, er, I mean a T. Some time ago I wrote an extensive blog post on the kind of book I think falls into the cozy category. If you like, you can read it here. http://www.criminalelement.com/blogs/2012/01/what-is-a-cozy

When I decided to write mysteries, it came as no surprise that I would want to write a cozy mystery that met all of the above standards and was fun to read. Where to start? Well, personally, I love settings. I think that every setting has a story of its own to tell. Is the area unspoiled and natural? How was it able to remain that way? Is an area a high density hustle-bustle big city? How did it get that way? Why has it stayed that way? I wanted my cozy mystery to be set in a warm, inviting locale. Maybe a beach community. My daughter lives in south Florida and helped me discover Fort Myers Beach, a warm, friendly town of full time residents and lots of vacationers. Twelve months a year the weather is mostly summer and the atmosphere is laid-back and appealing.

Once I found the setting, I went trolling in my imagination for characters.  I wanted the protagonist and her side-kick to come from a very different  place and to be fairly new to the community because I wanted the  reader to see Fort Myers Beach through their eyes. So a few years before the story starts, Sassy Cabot and Bridgy Mayfield have moved from Brooklyn, New York to Fort Myers beach to open a bookstore and cafe named Read 'Em and Eat. Sassy and Bridgy still feel the difference in  lifestyle in little ways every day.

Then I thought about book club members. Well, take a group of people, any group of people, and you may find a Happy, a Grumpy, even a Bashful. Stir gently. And then assorted characters wander in to the Read ’Em and Eat. And over time they led me to a plot. Someone gets killed. Handsome sheriff’s deputies and a sweet, endearing newspaper reporter are on the case, but Sassy has a special request from the cousin of the victim to find out what really happened and she tries to honor the request. So that’s a little bit of the why and the how Well Read, Then Dead came into being. I hope that you’ll get a chance to read it and I hope that you enjoy hanging with the folks at the Read ’Em and Eat.
