Hollywood is making a movie adaptation of one of mystery writer, Jessica Fletcher's novels. They are shooting on location in Jessica's Home town of Cabot Cove, Maine the novel is based on the fictional story based on true life events took place years ago about A woman judge that was shot while walking her dog and the prime suspect was a enraged husband whom the judge ruled against in a custody case but then the case took a turn and the finger was pointed at the judge's own husband and then to the judge's husband's mistress for doing the deed.
Every one on the movie set had big egos including the the lead actress Vera Stockdale is no acception. She is a has been actress coming out of retirement to rekindle her dreams of becoming a movie sensation and big time movie star once again. Life starts to imitate art when Vera is found shot while on the movie set and some one on the set is stalking Jessica.

The cast and crew may have possible motives for murder as no one has any kind recollections of Vera as a person. Sheriff Mort Metzger is having trouble keeping up with the murder and the inconvience that making the movie has caused to the town of Cabot Cove. Jessica is hoping that none of the cast and crew are aware of her past exploit's of being involved in murder investigations and solving them as she tries to pin down a murderer before the someone else on the set is found dead on the cutting room floor.

As I read this book I am reminded of watching Murder She Wrote on TV with my grandmother when I was young. A true cozy mystery in every sense of the word, it brought me back to that time, a treasured memory I will always have of me and her. The familiarity of all of the characters that were in the TV show were also in this edition of the book based on the series like , Eve Simpson, Sheriff Mort Metzger, Seth Hazlitt, and Loretta Spiegal, and regular clients and coworkers from Loretta's beauty parlor made reading the book a true comfort.

This is one of my favorite TV shows and now favorite book series of all time. Close up on murder is about basing a movie and murders on one of Jessica's books was a engaging story line, great for movie buffs and mystery book lovers. I will be reviewing the next book in this series, Death of A Blue Blood coming out in October and will also try to read and review previous books in this series. Reading these books can do something that no other books I read  could do if only bring back my grandmother for just a brief period of time.

  1. Thanks so much, Tina! Glad you enjoyed the book. We're excited about the upcoming Death of a Blue Blood. Hope you like that one, too.
